Happy 2nd Birthday Laney

DSCN1613

We had a small family gathering to celebrate Laney turning 2!  I still can’t believe she is 2!  One of her favorite shows is “Yo Gabba Gabba” so had a cupcake cake! It was so YUMMY that we had a “party in our tummy!”

When Lucy turned 2, Kev was playing in Toledo and she had a Muddonna, a Mudhen mascot, party.  She also ot to throw out the first pitch at the game that day.  It was only fitting that Laney get to do the same!

Walking out to throw the ball.  Before this she was in close proximity to Spinner and I was sure she was going to take off for him!

I think the highlight of her night was being so close to Spinner, she LOVES Spinner!  She also really enjoyed seeing herself on the HUGE video board.

Be like Dad

Kevin and I always have said, even before we had kids, that it would be their decision to play a sport.  Lucy has always seemed to shy away from doing a team sport.  She loves to kick a soccer ball, but when asked if she wants to play on a team, no was always the answer.  We never pushed t-ball, but one day she said that she wanted to play.   We knew that she would have so much more fun if it was her idea to play and if it was something she wanted to do.

Lucy has LOVED every minute of it.  She looks forward to practice every week and likes to practice at home.  And she knows she looks cute in her uniform, so that helps too!DSCN1599

She had her first game tonight, and did great.  The team she played against had 2 of her best friends from preschool!  She batted 3 times and got a hit her third time.  She wants to set the bat down nicely and then run, instead of dropping and going.  She debuted in left field (like her daddy) and the moved to pitcher and ended at catcher.

tball 007 She is wearing #1, like her daddy.  Before we left tonight, she asked me in the most serious tone, “Mom, since I have #1 does that mean that I can’t play and I have to coach?”

It’s their birthday…..

well not quite yet.  Laney’s is a week away, and Lucy’s is 4 weeks away, but sometimes you just got to give them an early present.

So, what can produce faces like this:DSCN1579

Only something pink, with 4 wheels and goes fast:

Since Kevin had a day off and I found a great deal, we decided to give the girls an early birthday present.  Our next door neighbor has a powerwheels car that all the kids fight for turns on, so we decided we would get the girls one.   They LOVE IT!!!!!

Preschool Party

On May 16th, weDSCN1536 had Lucy’s pretend birthday party at preschool.  Since she has a summer birthday, we get to pick a date to celebrate!  Lucy said that she never wanted to leave preschool because she wouldn’t have anymore “pretend birthdays.”  She really looked forward to this day, as it meant Mommy, Daddy and Laney coming to her classroom!

When we arrived the kids were getting ready for music time.  They sang  a few songs and then washed up for snacks.  Laney enjoyed being there for the music.  She got to play in the bus and sit with her sissy too!DSCN1529

While kids washed up and snack was being prepared, the kids sat at their tables and read books.  Lucy showed me her favorite book about a ballet dancer while Kevin chased Laney around :)

Ms. Betty crowning Lucy the Birthday Girl.  After the crowning, they sing the birthday song where all the kids participate in naming what you put in the cake and then they mix it up and sing Happy Birthday.  It is such a cute song!  It is so neat to see your child in a different environment.  I loved seeing her interact with others and realizing that she truly is turning into a big girl.
