Random Pictures

I think part of my problem in the lack of blogging has been the use of my phone's camera.  I just snap pics here and there, and they aren't great quality. Hopefully that will change when I get an iphone in about 40 days (not that I'm counting.)  Here are some random photos from the past few months.
One of my favs

Laney got her gardening mittens on to help!
 ummm..I don't think so Lucy!
 Bucket head!
 Laney doing her possum  hang
This spring Laney would take her lunch outside and "her box" to eat a picnic.  Her chair and box would usually end up over by the fence where Hannah, MaKenzie and her would play all afternoon. We had to upgrade her box to a plastic tub to hold barbies and other toys.
Laney's art project late one night.  Don't worry, it all came off.
 Beautiful Lucy posing
I made Lucy a huge banner to hang on the garage the last day of school!
Lucy watering my latest outdoor project.  Planted junca and creeping roses.

The girls sold bottled water at our garage sale.  I think Papa ended up buying most of it.  We were giving customers back a dollar to go buy a bottle!  Later this summer Laney asked about going to California to Disneyland, I told her it costs lots and lots of dollars. Her response, "We can  have another garage sale!"

Lucy's room got a makeover...new comforter and new green paint!

Laney got a purple room!

Laney loving on Ribby. These 2 are definitely BFFs.

Little Fish

We started off the summer by doing 4 days of swimming lessons to serve as a refreshment course for the girls.  The way the ended up swimming, I'm not sure they needed it.  They are both little fish.  Lucy is jumping in the deep end, treading water and swimming all over the pool.  Laney is all over the pool, but hasn't mastered the treading water yet, so the deep end is off limits unless there is an adult there.  She still loves to jump in the deep to Mommy or Daddy though.  They both can do front and back flips in the water, dive for rings, and are practicing their handstands.   We spent many, many hours at the pool this summer and are still hoping for a few more days!

We also spent many days at Nana and Papa's beach, playing in the water and sand. Laney (finally) loves to play in the sand and Lucy loved to paddleboard, or just climb up and jump off!

Lucy fishing.

Relaxing after a fun day in the sun!

Let's play ball

Lucy moved up this year from playing teeball to 8 and under coach pitch. She made the adjustment with ease and had great success.  She is such a good listener and always knew what was going on.  Watching her play reminds me of Kevin so much.  She looks just like him when she is up to bat...makes me miss watching him play.  Softball is definitely one of Lucy's loves. She will play catch with anyone willing, and if no one is willing, she wants her backstop net out to throw and field with.
This little stinker can't wait to play teeball next year.  She was a pretty good sport about going to all of Lucy's games this summer though.

Lucy was always ready for the ball to come her way!
Up in the box and crowding the plate...just like Daddy.

A girl that can play ball..doesn't get much cuter!

Lucy and her best bud, Dani.  These 2 would come home from a game to play more ball in the front yard!

Dani's older sister, Kelsey, aka MY LIFESAVER.  Kelsey and Dani kept each other entertained throughout the games.

Seven...Really???

Oh my heaven, Lucy is 7. I know it is clique, but time really does fly. Lucy's birthday celebration, like Laney's, lasted for a month. We had school party, actual birthday and friend party. And it was all a blast!

Spinner brought surprise birthday muffins to Lucy's classroom again this year!  She had no idea he was coming so it was a great surprise!  We are so lucky Lucy has had great teachers like Mrs. Baalman who love Spinner too!

The girls on Lucy's real birthday!  Laney gave Lucy a Barbie bunk bed set...they were both excited!  We celebrated the day by going to gymnastics, McDonald's playland and Wingnuts baseball!
Lucy threw out one of the first pitches at the Wingnuts game.  The catcher was her favorite 'Nut, Daddy.
One of my all time favorite pictures.  Life just doesn't get any better than this.
Johnny Bench was in town for the Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award and also threw out a first pitch.  Of course we had to take advantage of the photo opportunity!

Lucy's birthday part was held at Paint the Towne, where all the girls got to paint their own canvas.  Lucy picked the design out, each girl picked their colors and all were instructed on how to make their masterpiece.  It was loved by all!  Lucy picked out her birthday cake too. I asked if she wanted a peace sign or something to mimic the canvas, but she wanted "the thing that art people use to hold their paint."

The girls hard at work.

Blowing out the candles.  Lucy couldn't get the last one blown out and started laughing so hard that everyone had to help!!

The girls and their masterpieces!

What to say about Lucy at 7 years old...she is a huge help (most of the time) to me.  She is a rule follower and people pleaser...always respectful.  She had lost her 2 bottom teeth by her birthday (and a top one as I write this post.)  She loves cold pizza and chicken fries and raw veggies...dislikes anything with noodles and green beans (although I still make her eat them.)  Loves to ride her bike and play outside.  Softball is a passion and will play catch with anyone willing.  Loves to sleep in and swim.  Has a smile that makes my heart smile.

Laney turns 4

I always feel a little sad for my girls because they have summer birthdays...difficult to celebrate at school, hard to celebrate with friends in the summer with vacations and baseball, but then I think they are lucky because they pretty much celebrate for a month :)  We started Laney's celebration her last week of preschool with her "pretend" birthday.  We had cupcakes with rings, straight from the Walmart bakery, per Laney's request.   She also got to celebrate her day at school with one of her best friends, Hannah.

The Wingnuts were playing in Kansas City for Laney's real birthday, so we hit the road with Daddy for a few nights to celebrate with Nana, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Grandad, Dave, T, Hudson and Harlow and a few other baseball friends that joined in.  The trip didn't start off too well, when 2 minutes from arriving Laney got sick in her car seat.  YUCK.  Thankfully there was a car wash next to the hotel and Nana and Papa were coming the next morning and could bring a back up seat! For her actual celebration, we went to Dave and Busters.  We got there early (my mistake), Laney had to use the potty, and the only public restroom was seemingly miles away and had 2 stalls.  Legends really needs to remedy that problem...pronto.  So, we started our day off with an accident, but the birthday girl got an extra present of new panties :) Laney also enjoyed an afternoon of games, games more games and cake!
Playing games with Lucy
Racing with Daddy.  She talked about doing this for weeks!
Blowing out the candles!

At four years old, Laney is just a breath of fresh air.  She is spunky and sassy and sweet.  She knows how to push your buttons to make you want to scream, but at the end of the day all you want to do is snuggle this sweet baby.  She does things that you know you should scold her for, but you just laugh instead.  She is constantly making people laugh.  Laney does not like Spinner...won't even come close to him at the ballpark.  She loves to ride her bike and play Barbies.  Laney loves Ribby and any other dog that crosses her path.  She wants to be a vet when she grows up.  Love you Laney Bug!
