Home Alone!!

This weekend I have the WHOLE weekend to myself. No husband, no baby, just me and the dog since 10:00 Friday morning. Kevin went to Lawrence/Kansas City to hang out with his brother, and Lucy went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. It is nice because it gives all 3 of us a break from one another, but I really do miss them.

Yesterday was nice, after they left I went back to bed, got up and took a shower and ate lunch, then laid in bed some more. Finally I decided that I would run to Target and Borders and finish up a couple Christmas presents, yes I've started :)

After I ate dinner last night, I laid on the couch and watched 4 episodes of Private Practice that I had DVR'ed and hadn't gotten around to. It is the spin-off of Grey's Anatomy, and really wasn't too bad. I had to hold myself back from watching Thursday's new Grey's Anatomy because Kevin and I always watch it together. DVR is such a great thing....no more commericals. I watched 4 episodes in about 2 1/2 hours.

Today I actually got out of bed at 8:30 and met some friends from the Y at a little coffee shop. Notice that I didn't get up to go workout before :) They are such a great bunch of women and we all enjoy our Saturday mornings. The rest of the day I spent with my mom, buying ribbon to make Lucy bows. We didn't get around to actually making the bows, b/c I had to clean the house and show it this afternoon. We've had it on the market for 1 week, and shown it about 5 times now.

Tomorrow, I'm showing the house again, going to workout, do some laundry and then sit and wait for my family to come home. The time alone is so nice and peaceful, no football talk, no Dora and Diego and no fits about what plates dinner is served on, but I miss my babies. Having Kevin and Lucy around is what makes each day just right. But having the time to reflect and realize what a gift they both are is priceless.

Painting Pumpkins

Since Lucy isn't big enough to carve her own pumpkin, we decided that we would paint pumpkins this year. And from the results, we might be doing it every year. She LOVED it. This is from a child who makes you wipe her hand as soon as she gets anything on it! We painted 2 very little pumpkins and then moved on to the bigger pumpkins. Lucy let us put her handprint on one, as you can see from the top post, and Daddy and I helped out by drawing her name, flowers and polka dots, per her request. Lucy must have loved it, because this morning she comes running into the bathroom while I was taking a shower to ask if we could paint more pumpkins tonight!

Lucy also has developed a sense of it getting dark outside, and that you should be at home when it gets dark. I guess this stems from her wanting to go to the park or take a walk and we tell her that is it getting dark. Anyways, Kevin went to the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame dinner with my dad tonight, and a little after 7 she gets up and looks out the window and says, "MOMMY, it's getting dark (she pronounces it gark) outside, Daddy be home soon."

Camping

Nana and Papa took Lucy on her first camping trip this weekend. They don't exactly "rough it" when they go, considering their motorhome has all the amenties of home, including a washer/dryer and satellite television! They went right up the road to El Dorado Lake, which is about 30 minutes from home. They have a great playground and walking area. Lucy had a great time going down the twisty slide, swinging and throwing rocks in the lake.

Flower Girl

Kevin's sister, Sarah, got married last weekend and we were all part of the wedding party. Kevin and I were part of the bride's party and Lucy was the flower girl. She looked absolutely adorable! She ended up walking down the aisle with Kevin and I and sitting with my parents during the ceremony, which she didn't care for too much! But the reception was a whole different story. As soon as the music started, Lucy was doing her thing on the dancefloor. She got upset when the music stopped and would say, "But I want to dance more!"

Bye Bye Pink Bink

I did the most disastrous thing ever last night. Kevin has therapy putty that he uses for his rehab on his hand, and had just finished doing his exercises, I was typing an email and Lucy was getting ready for bed. Kevin hands me the putty as he takes Lucy back to our bedroom to play on the bed, and I gather up her bink, blanket and milk. Not thinking, I put the bink, more specifically her favorite pink bink, and putty in the same hand. I realize then that the putty has stuck to it. I yell at Kevin to think of the worst thing that could possibly of happened with the putty. His response, "on the computer keyboard." My reply, "Even worse." The neon green putty was stuck to her pink bink and as much as I tried it would not come off. As if I wasn't already feeling guilty enough, I had to show Lucy why she couldn't have her pink bink. When I showed her, she just sobbed. Then I cried too. We put it in the trash together and cried some more. Never in her life has anything made me feel so bad. I guess we should take it as a sign that we need to take bink away. Bye Bye Pink Bink.

No surprises here!

Today is my birthday. Yep, I'm getting older...28! It has been a somewhat crazy week with trying to work around everyone's schedule to be able to celebrate my birthday! We are headed to Lawrence this afternoon because Kevin's sister is getting married this weekend, so we celebreated my birthday with my parents on Tuesday night by going to eat at P.F. Changs. YUMMY! Lucy kept saying she was going to PFGs for chicken and rice! Last night, I went to get my hair done, and Kevin took Lucy shopping for me. Kevin always has to wait until the last minute because he can't wait to give me my presents. He literally hands them to me as he walks in the door, in the store sack with tags on! He always picks out something that he knows I want, but don't need and won't buy for myself! So, as soon as I walk in the door last night, Lucy says "Mommy, got you a present....I go get it" I just had to giggle, no keeping surprises in our house!
