No Love for Mama

I was sitting here thinking I really should write a new blog post, but I have either been busy or lazy this week. And then of course Lucy comes up to me and gives me some inspiration. I'm sitting here in front of the computer, staring at a blank post trying to think of what I'm going to write, and she puts her hand on my shoulder and says in the sweetest voice,

"I know you really love Daddy, but he really loves me."

"Honey, Daddy can love both of us."

"I know you really love Daddy, but I love him."

Christmas in May

For the last 2 days, everytime we get in the car Lucy puts in her request to listen to "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and the "Ring-a-Dong" song, more commonly known as "Holly Jolly Christmas. Actually, I'm not sure if that is the real name or not, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Now, I am not a fan of Christmas music at anytime (it gets on my nerves after a bit), but after listening to Lucy singing along with Rudolph, I have a newfound appreciation. I think it is so cute that she sings about 3 words behind!

How Heels

Lucy decided that today she was going to be mom again, and I was going to be sweetie. If you haven't seen the first post on this, click here. However, before she could be mom she had to go to my closet to get some "how heels." I have no clue why she thought that as the mom she should wear heels, because as most of you know, I like my flip flops. I save the heels for special occasions....especially the silver sparkly ones. She kept asking me "Sweetie, do you like my "how heels?"

It got me to thinking that maybe that is what we should call high heels, "how heels." As in, "How do people walk in these things all day?" Sometimes I think the little ones are the ones with it all figured out!

A day at the Beach

It was an absolutely beautiful day today.....80 some degrees, NO WIND, and plenty of sunshine. Most weekends where the temperature is nice, it seems as if the wind has been 30-40 mph, and that is no exaggeration. So, what did we do....we went to the beach! Mom and Dad live on a lake and have sand in their backyard, so here in Kansas, that is as close to the beach as we will get!

Lucy and I woke up this morning, ate breakfast and she promptly put her suit on! We called our friends Denise and McKinley (2) and Meghan, Phoenix (3) and Charley (6 mos) to have them meet us there! Packed with towels, sunscreen, snacks and sand toys we were on the beach by 10:15! We had a great morning of playing, splashing, throwing rocks and pulling weeds! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but figure there will be plenty of other opportunities. Especially after she took a nap for over 2 hours today, I figure we'll be out there every chance we get! Anything to get my nap in!

What a Week

Not even sure where to start in describing the last week! It has been so crazy and hectic! I think I'll just go day by day!

Wednesday: Wingnuts opening night for the baseball season....it rained, got washed out.

Thursday: Kevin flew out early to Las Vegas to attend his brother's wedding. He missed opening night. My parents left to go on vacation for about 2 weeks.

Friday: Lucy went to Bentonville to hang out with her cousins for 4 nights because I was to work on Monday and Tuesday and didn't have a sitter for her. To read about her weekend click here and here. We also found out that Kev's grandmother had passed away Thursday night. She had been sick for a long time, and while still difficult, we all know that she is in a better place.

Saturday: Kevin was supposed to fly out to Sioux City to meet the team to play Saturday night and Sunday before coming home to attend his grandmother's funeral. He boarded the plane, then got told there was a 3 hour mechanical problem. He de-planed, stood in line for 3 hours only to find out that he could not get to Sioux City until 11 pm. He called his manager, who told him to just come home. He got to Wichita around 11 pm. On a funny note, when Lucy was told that I was on the phone, her response to my brother was "I don't care." I guess she was having fun.

Sunday: Mother's Day. I was planning on having to spend the day alone, but since Kev came home, we just hung out all day. It was very nice!

Monday: BIG NEWS!!!! Went to the baby doctor for my 35 week appt and she is scheduling my induction for June 9th!!!!! I'm getting induced because of how quickly Lucy's delivery was and also because of Kev's schedule. After the doc, we headed to Lawrence for visitation and the funeral.

Tuesday: We attended Grandma Johnson's funeral. It was such a sad occasion, but she had suffered long enough. She had been in the hospital since right around Christmas time. I then left after the service and lunch to meet my brother outside of Parsons to pick up Lucy and head home. Kev flew out that evening to El Paso to meet the team. This time, his flights went smoothly.

Today: Kev is playing in his first game as a Wingnut. He missed the first 6 games. Lucy and I are hanging out together at home, just enjoying the idea of having nothing to do. Well, we have lots to do: pick up Ribby from the kennel, get groceries, buy a baby present for a friend, laundry, etc. But, right now she is snoozing, I'm relaxing and life is good.

Clapping Clouds

I woke up at the crack of dawn Tuesday morning (it was 5:37) to the sight of lightening and the sounds of thunder and Lucy crying for me. She was all the way across the house at our bedroom door, without bink or blanket. She usually at least has one of these if she wakes up in the middle of the night, and she usually doesn't make it but right outside her room, where she stands and yells. I didn't quite register the problem right away (thunderstorm) so I swooped her up and asked what was wrong.

"It's TOO noisy in my room."

I proceed to lay her in bed with us, go find bink and blanket and then snuggle tightly with her. Poor baby wouldn't let go of me. It thundered some more and she asked what it was so I told her that the clouds were clapping their hands. Unfortunately, I had to get up and go to work and wasn't able to sleep till 9 like my babies! When they finally woke up, Lucy told Kev,

"Daddy, the clouds are not clapping anymore."

Uses of a Laundry Basket

The many uses of a pop-up laundry basket:

• To hide in.
• To pretend to be a monster running around.
• To use as a bath for baby dolls.
• To store said baby dolls.
• To put dirty laundry in.
• To dump dirty laundry out of.
• To use as a train car.

I'm sure I could think of more uses that Lucy has come up for her pop up basket, but for now, Mom duty calls and I must go pick up dirty laundry from the closet floor. Now I wonder who put it there?

Isn't having a camera that will do continuous shots just the best? When I was showing these pics to Kev (there is more than just this set) he said, "And you let her do this?" The answer to that, was not only did I let her do it, I was encouraging her to do it over so I could get better pics :)
