Self Portrait
Lucy and I were outside drawing with chalk the other day and we wanted to take pictures of what we had drawn. Rainbows, clouds, flowers and a ladybug were among the tracings we did of each other. I traced Lucy and together we drew on a face, clothes, hair, etc. Then she traced me and we did the same. But the chalk didn't want to show up on the camera so we resorted to taking pictures of ourselves together! As you can tell, the Kansas wind was blowing!
Cheap Entertainment
An empty box goes a long way with little kids. Kevin and I just sat back and watched as Laney chased Lucy around while she was pulling the empty box. They chased and chased each other while we all giggled.
The next afternoon, Lucy had me put Laney in her toy wagon so she could drag her around the basement. Laney loved it!
Stop the Madness
My project 2 weekends ago.
Those are all the clothes the girls have that are NOT hanging in their closets. Unreal. I have never seen so many clothes outside of a retail store EVER. The tub full is just 0-6 months...the piles go through 3T. I am just so thankful that both are June babies and hopefully the sizes will stay the same. It took me a good 3 hours to sort and redo Laney's closet. Lucy is easy...just buy new. Laney has 35+ outfits for just the summer. I am going to see how long I can go with only washing jammies just to make sure she wears everything at least 1 time!

Staying Busy
I guess we have either not been doing much, or doing too much and I just don't have the time to post about it! Here's a short recap of the last week (as much of it as I can recall.)
The Easter Bunny came to visit the girls. He brought Lucy a much wanted Sleeping Beauty doll and some Ariel goggles and a kickboard to help entice her to swim class. It didn't work. Laney got a walk behind toy that she has yet to walk behind. I think with the exception of Sleeping Beauty, the Easter Bunny was a bust this year!
The week was filled with pretty decent weather so we have been playing outside LOTS. We had a short visit to the zoo with Daddy on Tuesday where the gorillas were very playful. Laney thought it was hilarious when they chased each other and talked to them when they came by the window. We took quite a few walks and blew lots of bubbles. Lucy loves to chase them, Ribby loves to chase Lucy and Laney loves to watch it all. Great combination!
Swimming lessons were stressful once again. She didn't even make it into the pool, and about had me in tears this week. It's not like when she was 2 at Mom's Day Out and I could leave her crying knowing that the teacher would take care of her. There is only 1 teacher and he is in the pool. I can't just leave my baby standing there screaming for me. It just really stinks because it isn't the water she is scared of, it's me not being in there with her. We'll take a little break and try again later I guess.
With the weather getting warmer, it was time to sort through and find some summer clothes for Laney. I ended up dumping every bin of clothes we had and sorting through it all. What an undertaking. Lucy has been blessed with TONS of adorable clothing in the last 4 years!
The forecast has warm temperatures and sunshine all week, so another week outdoors we will be! We are having a garage sale this weekend (dreading) so most of our free time will be spent getting ready for that. Between now and then I promise to get some pictures on here!

Bunny Cake
I found a picture of a Bunny Cake the other day, and decided that I was going to try tot make it for Easter. I have NEVER attempted anything like this before...I have a hard enough time getting a layer cake to look decent.
I was supposed to use to round pans, but they were no where to be found. I figured I could cut a circle from the square with the help of a salad plate.

10 months
Laney is 10 months old today. (she'll be 1 in 2 months...I might start freaking out soon.)
She is such a joy to be around...just coming home after work and seeing her makes me smile, and seeing her smile makes my heart melt. With Laney, everyday is an adventure, and she most definitely keeps us on our toes.
Laney LOVES playing in her sister's room. The fact that Lucy likes to keep most of her stuff on the floor probably has something to do with this. Sometimes Lucy is ok with this, but more often than not she closes the door to keep Sissy out. I always laugh because every time Laney has been playing with something of Lucy's, Lucy asks "Mom, is this still drooly."
Another thing Laney still loves (besides milkshakes) is to take a shower or bath. Each time the water is turned on, she goes nuts. Bounces up and down and makes her noises to let us know she is excited! She cries when she gets out or if she doesn't get to go in.
Unfortunately, riding in the car hasn't gotten much better. It does help that she is entertained by Lucy and also by Christmas music. Yes, we are going on almost a straight year of listening to "Rudolph" and "Winter Wonderland." Some days, I'd rather listen to Laney cry than to hear those songs one more time.
My favorite part of the day is putting her to bed. She takes her bottle (crushes it as Lucy says) and then we just lay her down. She sleeps with 2 blankets, one to lay on and one to cuddle with. When you lay her down, she immediately dives for her cuddle blanket. It doesn't have to be any blanket in particular, just as long as it is fleece material.
Laney stands up by herself and scoots along furniture, but shows little interest in trying to walk. I think she realizes she is a speed crawler. Seriously, I think she could win any diaper derby out there!
It is so hard to believe that our baby is approaching the one year mark. Everyday with her brings such joy and laughter to our entire family! We are truly blessed with 2 beautiful girls on the inside and out!

Swim or Bust
Today was the first day of Lucy's swimming lessons. Or class as she calls it. With me in the water, Lucy has NO fear and is a little fish. Jumping in, going under, she loves it all. Now that we have Laney, I wanted Lucy to learn a little more about how to swim and enrolled her in lessons at the Y. One problem though.
She NEVER got in the water.
She cried "mama" over and over, louder and louder until I came to the rescue.
There was absolutely no part of it that wanted to partake in. (And it didn't help that she was the only girl.)
So, we sat and watched the entire 45 minute class. She is capable of doing everything they do in class. Her friend, Maci, is in the Saturday class, and thankfully there was a spot left so I switched days. I hope that helps...we'll find out Saturday!!!
