Our tradition changed this year and we were able to spend more time with Kevin's family, my family and just with the four of us. For the first time since before we were married, we spent Christmas Day entirely at home. It was amazing to let the girls wake up on there own and just play all day. We truly enjoyed every minute.
We started our celebrating with Kev's family in Lawrence the weekend before. We had a great time eating, celebrating, eating and playing! The girls had a great time playing with new gifts, including a salon station for Lucy and a pretend horse for Labey!
We spent a day with Kev's dad and grandmother, along with his brother and sister and their families before heading back home. Our tradition there is to trade scratch off lottery tickets to see who can win big. We didn't win big, but we had a great day nonetheless.
Back at home, we spent Christmas Eve looking at holiday lights with Nana and Papa. The girls enjoyed looking at the lights, but not so much sitting in the car! Then it was home to feed Santa and the reindeer!
The girls slept in on Christmas morning, all ending up in our bed until about 8:30. When Kev said lets go see if Santa came, laney replied with "he must have come downstairs. There aren't any presents under the tree up here. I checked". She checked on her way into our room at about 5 am. Not surprisingly, the girls were spoiled by Santa. New golf clubs and Just Dance 4 for Lucy and doll bunk beds and a highchair and Lalaloopsy dolls for Laney. Plus plenty other things. Santa even left all four of us nerf style guns. We have had SO much fun!!! The hit of the day was a cardboard cottage the girls could color. The rest of the day was spent shooting, dancing, coloring and relaxing as a family. A perfect day.
We finished off our celebrations with my family on the 26th. As usual we ate, played, celebrated and ate and played some more! The kids enjoyed playing and wearing their new things and spending time together. The adults enjoyed playing Sequence and sharing some giggles!
Christmas is always my favorite time of the year because Kevin and I are both off work and the kids are out of school. It's the most wonderful time of the year!
