Happy Birthday Laney

Today our little Laney Bug turns 1.

One.

Laney. One.

Where has the time gone? Wherever it went, it went waaaayyy to quick.

Laney is Laney. Everyday is something new with her and usually something funny. We thought that she would be walking early (since she starting crawling at six months) and she still isn't walking. She'll take anywhere from 2-10 steps at a time, but knows that crawling, or doing her scoot will get her there faster.

Climbing on the fireplace is a favorite activity. She knows she isn't allowed, but tries to get away with it anyways. She just looks at you with this innocent little face thinking (knowing) that she could get away with anything.


Feeding Laney is somewhat of a disaster. She wants to do it all herself, so we have to find foods that she can gum for all meals. She still only has 2 bottom teeth. Her favorite foods are bananas, colby jack cheese, waffles, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, ice cream and pretty much anything that she can get her hands on. If she decides she doesn't like something she tosses it on the floor. And even if she does like it, she tosses it on the floor.

Laney loves to be outside. Recently, Kev put her on Lucy's powerwheel and she loved it. Now every time we go in the garage she points at it with 2 fingers (like a peace sign) and makes her grunt of "ooookkk, oookkk."

The carseat is still something she dreads. While she has gotten a little better since being turned forward, it still isn't always peaceful. She likes to listen to Lucy sing and will clap along with her...or scream depending on her mood.

Laney has brought so much joy to our family this past year. We jokingly call her our little monster but all the the monsterish things she does are all the reasons why we love her so much. I am looking forward to this next year as she continues to grow and develop her personality even more.
