Lucy’s basketball season has wrapped up and they started their post-season tournament on Saturday. While Lucy has learned so much and improved dramatically, she still had yet to score a basket. Saturday’s opponent only ended up having 4 players show up, so we played 4 on 4, which was actually less chaotic than the normal 5 on 5.
Lucy seemed to be a little more comfortable with this as well since she could “get in the action” a little more. Her coach also realized that this game would be the optimal time for Lucy to score her first basket! She got the ball and shot it up and SWOOSH…NOTHING BUT NET!!!!
Nana, Papa, Kevin and I were all so excited, but I don’t think Lucy realized what she had done! We cheered for her and she looked up and then twisted her foot up behind her and did a little princess smile!
On the way home from the game her coach, Paul, called to talk to Lucy. He wanted to tell her how proud he was of the way she played during the game. He told me that he appreciated the way Lucy listened to him and then tried to execute exactly what he said to do. He said if he could have 10 little Lucys on his team that he would be thrilled!!!
