Christmas 2009

The cousins: Laney, Lucy, Claire & Landon

The cousins waiting patiently for the presents to be handed out.

Laney digging in.

Lucy getting all the paper off!
Coming down the stairs to see their surprise presents. Notice the "head" on the table. That was Claire's....everytime someone went up the stairs we did a doubletake.

Lucy and Landon got mini trampolines and Laney got a train table. Good thing the kids share well!

I can't reach across the table, so I'll just sit on it

Santa came!!!!
WHOA!!!

Laney jumped right on hers!

Lucy said "Mine only has 2 wheels and I'm NOT riding it"
Christmas 2009 was an adventure, in great ways and in not so great ways! The week started off great with lots of cousin time and lots of great food provided by Nana! Meggan and I got to spend time together doing my last minute shopping and hanging out with the kids at our house. Unfortunately, during our time together we picked up some sort of stomach bug. This led both of us to laying around all day Christmas Eve and being pretty much useless. After a nap and good night's sleep I felt like a new person the next day and the rest of our family was spared, but poor Meggan passed the bug around to her family.
Christmas Eve we spent the day at Nana and Papa's playing with new stuff. We had present opening right after breakfast so the kids could enjoy their new things together. I think Lucy and Laney's favorite present of the year has been the trampoline and the train table!
We woke up the next morning to snow on the ground and a visit from Santa! The girls each got new pink scooters, ornaments, a snowglobe and Lucy got her beloved Barbie ballerina! There was a little bit of drama regarding the scooters because Lucy's only has 2 wheels and Laney's had 3 like she wanted. But after some discussion, she got over it and decided that Laney would share hers until she was 5 and could ride the 2 wheeled one! If she only knew the trouble that Santa goes through every year!
After playing with our Santa stuff, we headed out for Lawrence to visit Kevin's family. While there was little accumulation of snow here in Wichita, Lawrence had about 8 inches....none of which had been plowed off the roads. It took us just a little bit longer than usual to get there, but we made it! We had a great day and the girls got lots of great stuff! Unfortunately, with all the hub-bub of the morning, I forgot my camera!
Some memorable moments (besides the scooter drama): Lucy finally got into this year and opened everything as fast as she could. Laney would open a present and have to have it really opened before she could go on. Lucy loved to say "AWESOME" over and over again at every present.
